Like any good love story, Morgan and Austin’s began in a coffee shop! "We met at General Cafe in downtown South Bend over tea and coffee during a time when neither of us expected to find love," Morgan shares. Morgan was preparing to move to Grand Rapids, while Austin was navigating a new chapter of his life. What could have been a brief encounter quickly turned into plans for drinks later that evening! With an immediate sense of comfort and ease between them, things moved quickly, and just six days later, Austin asked Morgan to be his girlfriend. Since then, their relationship has grown into a life filled with travel, gardening, biking, kayaking, creative projects, long conversations and an impressive number of Uno games. "Somewhere between the coffee dates, road trips, garden projects, stacks of books, and everyday adventures, we built a life that feels like home," she says.

Austin’s proposal was just as unforgettable as their first meeting! He popped the question on a beach in the Bahamas at sunrise. Morgan raves, "With the ocean beside us and the day just beginning, it felt peaceful, intimate and completely unforgettable - truly the best day ever."

The engagement ring was another meaningful part of the story. Austin chose the ring himself, with only a little guidance from Morgan, who knew she wanted an enclosed oval setting. He took it from there, selecting a design that reflects her personal style while showing the thought and care he put into finding something just for her.

When it came time to plan their engagement session, Morgan and Austin knew they wanted something different. "We did not want traditional, cookie-cutter engagement photos; we wanted images that reflected who we are individually and as a couple," Morgan explains. They chose Brooke and David for their creativity and artistic approach, trusting them to capture their personalities and relationship in a way that felt authentic. Their outfits followed the same personal approach. Instead of dressing in formal looks that felt unfamiliar, Morgan and Austin opted for versions of their everyday clothes. Their personal style is an important part of who they are, and they wanted to feel comfortable, recognizable and completely themselves in front of the camera.

The locations were equally meaningful. Morgan describes, "We chose two locations that are deeply connected to our story." Their first stop was General Cafe in downtown South Bend, the very place where their story began. Returning to the coffee shop brought them back to that unexpected first meeting and the beginning of their relationship. They also chose LangLab, a local creative hub that felt especially fitting given Austin’s love of music and their shared passion for the arts. Together, the two locations captured both the start of their love story and the creative life they have built since.

From the beginning, Morgan and Austin had a clear vision for their wedding day: a colorful, romantic celebration that feels personal rather than traditional for tradition’s sake. "Our garden-party-formal vision brings together our love of nature, art, music and meaningful details, while still leaving room for the day to evolve as we plan," Morgan shares.

Wedding planning has been exciting and creative, with a few overwhelming moments along the way. Still, the couple has especially enjoyed finding ways to make the day unmistakably theirs, from the vibrant color palette and garden setting to the music, personal roles and thoughtful details woven throughout the celebration. Morgan says, "Watching the vision come together has made us even more excited to share the experience with the people we love."
