Amanda of Magical Moments Event Planning has been dreaming of castle shoots for as long as she can remember. When she entered our 2019 Style Shoot Contest, submitting under the theme “European” was a no-brainer! She hunted down a castle in Indiana and the shoot “European Medieval Romance” was born. Amanda notes, “Usually we like dot do ‘light and airy’ photoshoots, but this one had a more serious tone to it.” Check out what this awesome team came up with below!
The team wanted the regal theme to extend throughout the entire shoot, even down to the stationery! Amanda notes, “We pictured it as if were the medieval times. When there was an announcement made by the king, then one of the king’s workers would go to town with a scroll and read out it to the people. That is what made us think of doing a scroll for the program. The invitation suite is very elegant and regal looking with the font and style.” Elieen of Noteworthy Expressions showcased her amazing work with this unique shoot!
Amanda wanted to find a dress fit for a queen. This dramatic look brings a level of elegance reserved for royalty!
Finding a castle in the middle of Indiana was definitely a surprise! Amanda was thrilled when she found this hidden highlight. “Being able to have the venue be a castle for a theme like ‘European Medieval Romance’ is much more than we could have asked for,” she says. “Castles are everywhere in Europe, and now couples don’t have to go to travel abroad to find their fairytale wedding. They can rent a castle here in Indiana!”
Historical foodies, this one is for you! This feast was serving roasted suckling pig, charcuterie boards, individual red-wine poached pear brown butter tarts and lamb stew with dried plums served in giant gold wine cups!
The sun and location’s distance were the two biggest hoops that this team had to jump over for this shoot. The lighting had to be just right, and that involved a lot of timing challenges with the sun. The drive to the venue was over an hour outside of Indianapolis, which was a huge commitment for traveling vendors!
Chrissy of Special Occasion Designs says that the florals used in this shoot were chosen for their deep, rich shades. The team tied in the Pantone Color of the Year, coral, into the shoot too for a pop of color! “We choose the richer colors for a darker, moodier style to play on the theme along with choosing some unique floral interest in contrast in the floral pieces,” Chrissy says.
Amanda says she is grateful for her amazing team, and the execution of this shoot couldn’t have happened without teamwork. “We each brought something different to the table with the florals, décor and design. We all have our different strengths, so coming together on this shoot was pretty incredible!"
