Get ready for a splash of color and culture with this latest entry of our 2019 Style Shoot Contest. Jean of Puja Events found that a lot of her Southern Asian clients wanted to bring a fresh look to their weddings, but were nervous about moving away from traditional ideals. This style shoot, dubbed “South Asian Boho Chic,” is a stunning mixture of modern Boho style and Hindu tradition that is one of a kind!
The vibrant purple used in this shoot offsets well with coral, the Pantone Color of the Year. The team wanted a dark rustic feel for the bride’s gown, so they chose a brown dress with golden embroidery. For the reception, they chose a dreamy wine lengha choli outfit layered with contrasting dupatta and a chocolate golden gown with an overskirt that leaves the bride looking absolutely stunning!
This shoot took on the theme of “the elements” by incorporating nature, so the team created Varmalas (a traditional Hindu garland) out of succulents and moss. Jean added, “We choose a venue space that had a barn for the reception and lots of natural space for the ceremony. We loved the amount of forest-like areas and that the barn had a beautiful ceiling!”
The team took on the challenge of using the colors of traditional Hindu weddings while contrasting with a neutral nature-inspired backdrop. We love the bold flower choices made in this shoot! Jean adds, “We chose tall bronze-colored candelabras to showcase the tall arrangements and low oval gold compotes for the low complimentary floral pieces.”
This shoot was full of unique touches from the team! They included a 3D printed Mandap, a mustard-colored dining table, and a living wall behind the cake. We can’t wait to see what this creative team does next!
