This Bold, Historic Style Shoot Showcases Winter in Michigan

This style shoot was focused on freedom! Kristen of Kristen Rose Photography wanted to have a shoot where a team could flex their creative muscles without worrying about a wedding’s time constraints. “The idea was to create an environment where we could try new things including photo ideas, patterns for tablescapes and makeup styles,” Kristen explains. We can't wait to show you the contrasting styles this historic shoot shows off!

 

No, you’re not seeing double! This shoot incorporates two contrasting color schemes--bold reds, and softer blues. The red signified beauty in its fierceness, while the blue gave off romantic winter vibes. These dueling color statements can be seen in the two cakes, two sets of florals, and even the brides’ hair and makeup!

 

This venue has a historic charm that drew the keen eye of the team. “The rooms inside have a grand ballroom type feel while the outside reminds me of an 1800s governors mansion,” Kristen notes. “The styles show the variety with which the venue allowed us to have to create.”

 

Do these models look extra glamorous to you? That might be because they got to choose their own dresses, showcasing their individual taste and style. Kristen adds, “We wanted different styles to be able to freely create different types of shots within the same venue.”

 

The farm table was a trend that Kristen just had to include. “We used the farm table look to incorporate the latest trend of a barn-type theme, but in a whole new way,” she notes. “We pulled the farm table into a historic look and allowed it to work just as well there.”
