After attending Nappanee Missionary Church in 2020, Grace met Trevor (who works there) and thought he was cute. She bumped into him a few times before DMing him on Instagram, where he asked her on their first date. Nearly one year of dating later, and Trevor proposed. "I am someone who typically ruins surprises, but Trevor pulled this one off. We had just closed on our first home a month previously, and I was going over there to see him. I opened the front door and there he was on one knee," Grace recalls. "It was the most perfect proposal."
The first thing on their wedding planning list was to find a venue. They actually ended up choosing the space they toured first! "Our wedding venue was gorgeous, I loved that we could get married outside but then have the reception inside and it was all in one place," Grace raves. From there, she began to assemble a Pinterest board of all the best décor items for an elegant, timeless and simple wedding. She also took inspiration from influencers on Instagram and WeddingDay's Annual Look Book.
Can we talk about how gorgeous Grace is in that simple yet elegant gown? "I had ideas when I went in but completely went a different route after trying a few on," Grace shares. "I began to love the simpler less beaded dresses. I had never thought I was going to go for a strapless dress and that was the one that I ended up going with." In total, she only tried on ten dresses before she decided on 'the one'. We think it was the perfect choice for her and helps elevate the overall feel of the wedding!
With only a six-month engagement in mind, the couple knew that they needed to get their vendors ironed out as soon as possible to make sure their vision could become reality. Many of their vendors already had good reputations in the area, came recommended from others or Grace and Trevor had experienced their services before. Grace gushes, "Each of our vendors did an amazing job, and we would recommend them to other couples." Especially the caterer, Nelson's BBQ Catering, who provided plenty of delicious food to satisfy all their guests!
What We Love
On the morning of her wedding, Grace's bridesmaids presented her with a photo album filled with images of her and Trevor as well as notes from their loved ones. The unique parts of their celebration were all involving their families from the special prayer time with them that they worked into the ceremony to Grace's mom walking her down the aisle while wearing her recently-passed aunt's ring. "My mom wore my aunt Jill’s wedding ring, since she passed away a few years ago and that was also meaningful to me as a part of her being there on our day," Grace says.
Advice from the Couple
Grace and Trevor advise, "Advice that I would give other couples planning a wedding is to enjoy the process. Do everything you can to make it less stressful for the both of you. The planning process and engagement goes by so quickly so try to enjoy those moments before they are gone. On the wedding day I would try to remember to not stress about the little stuff - everything is going to work out and it will be the best day. Enjoy all the little moments!"
