This Charming Ann Arbor E-Session Will Make Your Heart Flutter: The Engagement of Jim and Kenny

After swiping right on Tinder, Jim and Kenny discovered they shared a love for the great outdoors. They decided to go on a hike and almost immediately, they knew their connection was something special. “I brought my dog Cooper along and when I rolled down the window to say hi, Cooper jumped out of the car into Kenny’s arms,” Jim says. “It was a pretty good indication we were going to get along!”

Even though Jim’s engagement plans were disrupted by COVID-19, that didn’t stop him from asking Kenny to be his person! The pair signed up to do a virtual 5k in the park where they went on their first hike. After their run, Jim dropped to his knee at the spot where they had their first kiss. “We were both so excited that neither of us remembers what he said, but I said 'yes!'” Kenny adds.

Jim was initially against the idea of using silicone engagement rings, but when the pandemic hit, he realized it would be much more important to be engaged than to wait on his perfect ring. He adds, “Being a same-sex couple, we both have an engagement ring and plan to swap them for much nicer wedding rings when we do get married. This allows us to shop together without having to wonder if we’re picking the right one.”

The couple hasn’t narrowed down many of the little details yet--they’re mostly just excited to get hitched! We can’t wait to see how their big day will unfold.
