Some love stories begin with a chance meeting—and for Emma and Spencer, it all started at Hanover College. Emma was a sophomore, Spencer a freshman, and what began as a campus connection quickly grew into a love that was meant to last! When Spencer decided it was time to ask the big question, he planned a private and unforgettable getaway. The couple traveled to Key West, Florida for a vacation just for the two of them. During a sunset cruise, Spencer asked another couple to snap a photo of them. That’s the moment he proposed, creating a picture-perfect memory!

Regarding the ring, Emma had shared a bit of inspiration from her Pinterest board, and Spencer delivered beautifully! “My ring is an oval cut diamond with a gold band. I love the simplicity of my ring,” she raves. We just love how classic and elegant this timeless style is!

With a fall wedding on the horizon, Emma wanted engagement photos that carried the same warm, moody and romantic aesthetic. Their photographer’s editing style instantly stood out. “Her portfolio also speaks for itself,” Emma says. "She captures everything from unique poses you’ve never seen to candids that show true emotion."

Emma and Spencer opted to shoot at two locations to reflect the different sides of their relationship. Indiana State House offered a stately, elegant backdrop—ideal for the “classy and elevated” photos they envisioned, while Plat 99 brought in a dose of personality with its creative, modern vibe, setting the stage for fun, playful images that showcase who they truly are as a couple!

Emma thoughtfully curated two looks to complement each setting. For Plat 99, she chose a short all-white dress that felt “fun and flirty,” complete with an oversized bow that added the perfect whimsical touch. At the State House, she embraced sophistication with a long, silky halter dress. “I wanted to match the elegant and classy look of the State House,” she explains, noting that the cut felt beautiful and flattering.

Though Emma hadn’t pictured every detail of her wedding before getting engaged, everything started to fall into place once the date and venue were set. “I could really envision everything coming together,” she says. And so far, the planning journey has been a joyful one! “I’ve honestly loved every second of it. I find myself really enjoying the creative side of things…and I’ve received so much support from friends and family which makes planning a lot more stress free.”
