Despite both attending Illinois State University, Dana and Gus didn't officially meet until one of their mutual friends set them up on a blind date. On Gus's birthday, Gus let Dana plan a dinner for him to throw her off his trail. Once they were done eating, a limo picked them up and took them to the Chicago theater. "He got down on one knee and then our families came out of hiding and celebrated with us," Dana shares.
Dana had given Gus plenty of hints about what ring she wanted and even the size she needed before he went to purchase the ring. She wanted a simple round cut diamond on a solitaire band. "He picked out the specific ring from there! I love that it is classic, simple and elegant but even more so because he picked it out for me," Dana gushes.
After finding Laura on Instagram, Dana and Gus fell in love with her photography style and knew they had to book her for their engagement session and wedding, especially after she helped guide them through their shoot. The only thing left was to plan the location. Dana explains, "Our relationship began in Chicago so there was no doubt that the shots had to be in Chicago. The lakefront gives you the perfect view of the skyline and we wanted to always remember the city where our love story all began."
As far as wedding planning goes, Dana and Gus are having a great time with it. "I think most people have an idea of what they want for their big day and we were no different. One of the most fun parts of the engagement has been figuring it out along the way together!" Dana raves. Though it can be stressful at times, Dana and Gus feel more and more accomplished with each box they are able to tick off with their wedding less than one hundred days away.
