Sydney and Daniel met in college at Butler University. Sydney says, “My roommate was actually very good friends with his roommate from high school–they both grew up in the same town. We decided on one weekend to go visit Butler University to watch one of their fall baseball games. They introduced us and the rest was history!”

Sydney and Daniel were in Florida for Christmas when he popped the big question. Syndey says, “After we got down to the beach, Michael asked again if I would go on a walk, this time I gave in and on our way back he got down on one knee and proposed! My family was hiding in the bushes to take pictures and surprise us with champagne and gifts. We had a big party that night with the family celebrating our engagement! Thank goodness he still proposed, even after I was so stubborn!”

After the planning began, Sydney and Daniel decided that there was no concrete vision they wanted for their day. They just knew they wanted it to be memorable and fun. It was after finding the perfect venue that everything fell into place. “I immediately fell in love with the venue space and with the team that ran the venue,” add Syndey. “We wanted a sort of modern city-vibe venue and with JPS having both an indoor space and outdoor space, it was perfect. The patio area was to die for it looked over the city and lit up at night. Also, we were able to take care of our catering, flowers, décor and bar all in one venue.”

What we love

We love that Sydney had special details in her outfit that connected her to her family members. She says, “One very special thing that I wore in my wedding dress as my ‘something borrowed' was a handkerchief that had my mom’s chi omega pin on it and my sister’s chi omega pin.”

Advice from the bride

Sydney says, “My biggest piece of advice to brides is to enjoy every second of the wedding planning process. Your engagement will fly by and this is such a special time for your fiancé. Enjoy the time and cherish your engagement!”
