The Vision
Luvone Willis of Luvone’s Beautiful Occasions envisioned a theme rooted in warmth, richness and modern elegance for our fall/winter Grand Rapids cover shoot. Guided by the concept “Ember & Elegance”, the shoot's aesthetic leans into abundant textures and a palette that feels like warmth in full bloom. “I drew inspiration from a palette of rich, warm colors that immediately evoke depth and elegance,” says Luvone. The layered design blends terracotta, burnt orange, amber, burgundy and grounding touches of green for a look that is both fresh and enduringly stylish. “My goal was to blend modern and traditional elements in a way that feels both fresh and timeless—pairing clean lines with classic textures, and contemporary accents with heirloom-inspired details,” she explains. The final editorial reflects that harmony—an inviting, layered celebration of color, season and style!

The Venue
Ivy House in Saugatuck, Michigan served as an elegant and effortlessly modern backdrop for our shoot, offering a setting where thoughtful design meets seamless convenience. The venue is beautifully curated—clean, modern and intentional in every detail. We especially love the reception space's soaring, elegant ceilings and modern blank slate appeal. But the real showstopper is the greenhouse, perfectly suited for a romantic ceremony! Equally impressive is the Ivy House Team. Luvone shares, "The staff is exceptionally professional and genuinely hospitable, ensuring every couple and vendor enjoys an effortless, welcoming experience from start to finish." We're in awe of how Jessie Silva expertly captured the warmth and beauty of this inviting space, bringing its refined charm to life!

The Florals
The florals designed by Brittney of Blue Jay Floral Studio embraced the richness of the fall season, drawing from a warm palette of amber, terracotta, cranberry and burgundy to create depth, movement and visual warmth. Abundant arrangements adorned the tablescapes, beautifully layered with candles to enhance the romantic glow, while the circular table showcased a grand centerpiece with cascading greenery that added a striking sculptural presence. Brittney incorporated lush textures and varying fall tones that worked together to enhance the warm autumnal theme. We especially love how blooms were thoughtfully integrated throughout the entire setting—from the welcome sign in the foyer to the ceremony installation, reception tables and even the cake—creating a cohesive floral story that tied each moment of the day together!

The Décor
The décor and color palette for the shoot came together as a warm, layered expression of seasonal richness and modern style. In addition to the terracotta, burnt orange and burgundy, the team incorporated black accents for a moodier touch. Luvone explains, "For the décor, we incorporated some of our own large custom pieces, elegant floral vases and smaller accent items, but the majority of the design was created using pieces from Charm Decor House, the rental company owned by the venue." The tablescapes were adorned with black charger plates, colored glassware and black flatware. The designs were rounded out with abundant florals, modern menus and place cards and organic concrete table numbers. In the ceremony, we utilized one of Charm Decor House's arbors, enhanced further with romantic florals, for the first look while the second look took on a more modern feel with a custom backdrop and elegant, yet modern candles.

The Cake
A firm believer in letting each vendor flex their creative muscles, Luvone let Wildwood Cake Studio surprise her after sharing the color palette and overall vibe. The result was a true masterpiece! This three-tiered confection had a rectangular base with two round tiers on top. Its teal color created a striking contrast to the rest of the shoot while still tying in the color palette with its pops of autumn tones throughout.

The Looks
Two gowns from La Bridal Loft were selected for our modern yet elegant shoot. For the ceremony, our model wore a stunning A-line gown with a plunging neckline, delicate spaghetti straps and floral detailing. At the reception, she donned an off-the-shoulder look with a peek-a-boo slit and additional floral details to continue the floral theme. BÜK Weddings styled her hair in a romantic half-up, curled style while her makeup was more bold with a smoky eye and dramatic lip that perfectly tied in the color palette! The groom wore a tan suit and burnt orange tie, reflecting the warmth of the day.

The Stationery
As usual, Noteworthy by Design knocked our stationery pieces out of the park! "I shared my vision and design details with them, and they executed everything beautifully," Luvone raves. There is so much visual interest in each element of the invitation suite, from the pattern on the inside of the envelopes to the rounded RSVP cards and moody floral border. The theme continued in the rest of the paper elements. The black menus were the perfect contrast to the orange place cards (and the second tablescape echoed the look in reverse!) while both complementing the tablescapes. Our favorite piece from them, however, was the striking welcome sign that was thoughtfully displayed with candles and abundant florals creating a showstopping moment that set the tone for the rest of the shoot!
