Brittney Johnson of Detailed Days Event Design and The Phoenix, a historic venue, in Cincinnati, teamed up together to create an elegant and lush style shoot within the venue’s impressive space. Brittney says, “The vision for this shoot was to create a look that matches with today’s current trends, but also still captures the elegance and timelessness of the venue. The Phoenix is rich in historic elements like the Tiffany stained glass and the grand marble staircase.” Working with a venue that holds many eye-catching features meant that the team had to emulate those features with equally as extraordinary design. That goal was easily accomplished as captured by Sherri Barber Photography.
“We wanted to highlight the gorgeous, historic architecture while still showcasing what today’s brides are looking for,” says Brittney. “With the creative minds of this wonderful vendor team, I believe we accomplished just that!” Utilizing a simple color palette and exquisite decor pieces — a timeless vision of style and elegance came to life.
Using dramatic golds, soft pinks and whites, the color palette was driven into all the elements of the shoot, from the luxe, white linens and golden candelabras to the soft, feminine florals. Brittney adds, “The golden hues really brought out the brilliance of the stained glass while neutral tones allowed for the historic elements to really shine through. The overall design added with the timelessness of the space gave us the exact look that we were seeking.”
One of the most exciting elements of this shoot is the fact that they brought modern trends into a historic venue. It goes to show that any vision can come to life within a venue like The Phoenix. Brittney remarks, “We wanted something that was so classic that it would be timeless!”
