An Elegant, Boho Barn Wedding: The Wedding of Alicia and Jared Hatfield

We just love when a couple reconnects with each other years after meeting and falls in love. Alicia and Jared knew of each other in high school but didn't become close until their second and third year at UC. When it came time to pop the question, Jared took Alicia to The Candle Lab. She says, “He took me for 'my birthday' and when we went to get the candle, everyone told me to open and smell it. The lid said 'Will you marry me?'. I was so surprised!"

Like many brides, Alicia thought she wanted something totally different than what she ended up with when she began planning their wedding (but no one will argue that it ended up being perfect!). She selected her venue, The Honey Farm, based on a great impression from the owner and its location. She also notes, "It is different from anything else we looked at and weddings we’ve been to." The rest of her vendors were selected on a combination of good reviews and good prices. Alicia adds, "I also looked for people who have not been doing it for awhile. I liked giving new businesses/younger people a chance." In an industry full of small businesses, we can't help but love this outlook!

Now that they're married, the couple has one piece of advice for other couples: "Don’t get caught up in all the craziness and stress and don’t overspend - it's just a couple hours. The marriage and wedding is about you and the love of your life spending and starting a life together. That's why you’re there. Soak up your love and choose to be blind to any problems - someone else can take care of it!"
