Cassie of Cassie Dunmyer Photography had an idea that began with a glass of sangria. She was inspired by its color and texture, and the vision blossomed from there. She approached Michelle Rakotomalala to co-create this beautiful, boho-elegant style shoot, and the magic began.

Cassie says, “Primarily seeing the bohemian look represented outdoors or in more industrial venues, I wanted to create an out-of-the-box interpretation for winter weddings. I pictured something with layers of detail with an artistic, unique quality.”

Cassie wanted to feature unique florals in the design, particularly in the modern arch, hanging florals, and staircase. “I wanted each floral element to feel connected through theme and color palette,” says Cassie. “For the tablescapes, I saw richness like you would see in a rustic feast but updated...Something that incorporated the color and texture of sangria, giving you layers of detail and inherent warmth.”

“Cornerstone literally became a cornerstone to the design process because of its unique, gothic revival details,” says Cassie. “Once a Masonic Temple, the six-story building features a large auditorium and ballroom along with multiple grand halls. There’s an immediate draw to the ornate Majestic and Legacy rooms featuring hand-painted murals and unique, theatre seating. The Colonnade’s mezzanine balcony gave us a wonderful challenge to utilize unique, vertical design opportunities. And, the E.B. Ball Auditorium features a huge, bohemian, imported glass chandelier, more hand painted artwork and lush detail along the balcony and walls. Each room has a character of its own, and at every turn you find a creative opportunity."

Cassie says, “Blue House Bridal’s owner, Brittany, knew immediately the dresses to take us when we said our theme was boho-elegance. We asked for unique, detailed dresses that would match the look we were going for. Grace’s gown was a fitted, ornately beaded design with beaded, cold-shoulder detail. It matched the venue perfectly, adding a glamorous, vintage feel. Paired with a classic bouquet (although unique because it featured three different designs depending on the way it was turned), made her look that much more elegant. Brooke’s gown features detailing in the lace that climbs delicately along the bodice. The length of the train and flowiness of the fabric gave us different opportunities in composing images. This dress felt modern yet timeless. It looked clean against such a unique bouquet, allowing the floral design to pop.”

While one bride wore a half up, half down hairstyle that featured multiple braiding techniques and was pulled into a handmade, boho-inspired hairpiece with loose curls, the second bride’s hair featured a combination of manipulated twists and braids pinned up to create a "messy" updo.

The creative team behind Foister’s Flowers and Gifts let the florals talk. They said, “We used blues, burgundy, gold and blush colors to match the browns and gold hues and white of the rooms...We used Scabiosa and Ranunculus and thistle along with Craspedia Billy Balls to pop some color along with pheasant feathers in one of the bouquets for an organic look. In the other bouquet were more traditional flowers with roses and waxflower along with some seeded eucalyptus...The copper arch was handcrafted as was the hanging floral piece above the table.”

Cari, owner and designer behind InterPRINTations says, “The custom invitation suite incorporated a hippie chic border and a vintage-inspired monogram, along with bold calligraphy accents. The menus and place cards coordinated with the floral and linen hues to finish off the bohemian-inspired look.”

Cassie says, “Sea Salt and Cinnamon created a vegan cake bar for the shoot. Featured was a two-tiered vanilla cake brushed with icing and dusted in gold flakes. The two other cakes were a single tier with dripped chocolate topping and gold flake detail.”

“All of our rentals came from A Classic Party Rental,” says Cassie. “We used their silver band china topped with glass china to create a layered look with a piece of greenery in between plates. The rest of the setting was chosen to create a mix of elegant and modern, using Acro Cut Crystal glasses and Elexa Flatware. To tie our color palette together, we chose a burgundy polyester tablecloth with ivory polyester napkins. We used the Vineyard Crossback Chairs because they not only fit in with the darker woods in the venue but paired perfectly with the hanging design created by Foister’s.”
