Emily and Kyle met through mutual friends and decided to have their first date on the golf course. Afterwards, they got dinner and walked the pedestrian bridge from Lafayette to West Lafayette. To propose, Kyle decided to recreate their first date. The happy couple got dinner in downtown Lafayette then walked the pedestrian bridge where Kyle proposed!
Since they both love golf and it was such a big part of their life, they decided to get married on a golf course. The other vendors came from Emily and her social media list of vendors that she was curating for at least four years. "I created a vendor list of my dream team, asked what dates they were available, and we made sure to make it happen," Emily shares. "We truly went with the work we have witnessed and or could view online." The team worked together to make a beautiful ceremony that was captured by Clark Videography!
When it came time for Emily to get a dress, she ended up choosing something that she never thought she would. "I would describe my dress as a fit and flare type of style. I had an idea of what I wanted and ended up getting something completely different and shocking to
most people, which I think was the best part!" Emily admits. We think she picked the prefect dress to highlight her beauty and match their theme.
As for colors, Emily knew she always wanted one specific color in her wedding day. Emily explains, "I have always dreamed of a shade of sage green for my wedding day. AZAZIE had a shade called Eucalyptus, I used that shade as the main color for everything and the eucalyptus plant." They added a pinch of ivory to help balance out the green shades around their ceremony. With the groom's navy suit, the whole ceremony space was elegant!
what we love
"The people around us made it special for us. We had a very emotional day," Emily gushes. "As badly as I wanted him to calm my nerves throughout the day, his reaction to seeing me for the first time was priceless." They also included Emily's restored 1968 Volkswagen Beetle for guests to see and take pictures with.
advice from the couple
"If you have the right vendors, your day and planning will go smoothly. It was a little overwhelming at first when arriving to the venue and all vendors were there checking in, but after the initial check-in, all our vendors worked together to make sure Kyle and I didn’t have to worry about anything. Also, I am sure I am the minority on this one, but don’t do a first look if you don’t want to!" Emily and Kyle advise, "Hire a videographer. Henry was so great at capturing moments that Kyle and I can look back on to see the day through an overall lens. We were so excited to see the full video and were obsessed with the teaser Henry provided."
