Courtney and Jeslyn met while in college. What first started out as friendship eventually developed into the romance of a lifetime and by the time college was over - they knew they had found 'the one.' The couple became engaged after Courtney popped the question in the very spot they had first met. Jeslyn says, “She told me she had to show me something and proceeded to walk me across campus. She took me to the building we had that first awkward introduction in and got down on one knee and asked me to spend forever with her.”
Jeslyn’s ring was actually a ring that she got to design herself! Courtney and Jeslyn were at the mall when they stumbled into a jewelry store and Jeslyn took notice of a gorgeous ring. She adds, “I really liked the ring, but had always dreamed of having one center stone surrounded by a halo of smaller diamonds. We talked about the things I liked, the things I would change if I could, but ultimately ended up leaving knowing that we wouldn’t be buying anything anyway. This was the beginning of December 2017. Flash forward to May 2018, the ring that she gave me was the exact ring we had designed that day!”
After finding the perfect ring and having the perfect proposal - the couple decided that they had to commemorate this life-changing decision with an engagement session and Jeslyn knew exactly who she wanted to capture it! Jeslyn says, “I came across Ashley, of Rainwater Photography, a couple of years ago on Instagram. I don’t remember the exact sequence of events that led me to her page but knew from the first photo I saw that I wanted her to photograph my wedding one day. Her photos are romantic, rich in color and always seem to capture the individuals she photographing so authentically.”
Advice from the bride-to-be
It can be easy to see your engagement photos as a trial run of your wedding photos. However, Jeslyn and Courtney decided that these photos needed to be just as special. Jeslyn says, “We decided that if we were going to do the session, we were going to do them a little more dramatic and artistic so we would want to display them even after we get our wedding photos. I didn’t really know what kind of outfit I was looking for exactly, I just knew I wanted a dark, moody and romantic vibe.” We love that they took care in making their engagement session as notable as their wedding photos!
