This Grand Rapids Winter Shoot is Full of Vintage Charm

Sierra of Sierra Marie Photography always dreamed of having a wedding in a winter wonderland. Pairing up with Liz of EH Creative, they set out to make this dream a reality! Grab a blanket and cozy up to a loved one as we showcase this team’s incredible winter style shoot.

We're swooning over this gown's delicate lace and scalloped neckline. “We also wanted a dress that fit our model’s style,” Sierra says. “Usually, we see the dress as the focal point of the shoot, but we truly wanted to focus on the details that ‘dressed’ up a simple yet beautiful dress.” 

Sierra admits that from the start, she felt drawn to the deep, rich colors of winter. These shades of deep maroon and vintage gold pair perfectly together for a pop of color against this moody tablescape design. “We felt the colors added a touch of uniqueness to the standard winter wedding look,” she adds.

This shoot’s stationery gets a special shout-out. Every name and detail was hand-written. We love this intricate attention to detail!

Sierra wanted to weave the color gold throughout the shoot in any way she could to touch on this hot trend. “We wanted to incorporate that in a unique way which is why the stationery and calligraphy were done with gold calligraphy pens. We also reflected this in our model’s makeup.”

The team had originally planned to do this shoot in a state park but had to move to private property due to park closure. Sierra explains that this last-minute change in location ended up working out just as well, if not better, for the shoot’s vintage theme. “Our new location was secluded and stunning,” she says. “We wanted the shoot to be unique and having it on a private property that was made so beautifully and thoughtfully, just truly fit.”
