Rival sports teams sprouted love when Bailey and Courtney first met playing against each other at a high school softball game. Though they were attracted to each other, they didn’t end up reconnecting until later in life while Bailey was in graduate school in Detroit and Courtney was working in the area. But when Courtney took a job in Louisville, it put the couple in a tight spot. Courtney says, “We skeptically agreed that we would give the long-distance thing a try since neither of us had ever felt such a magnetism before. It worked!” Long-distance champs over here!

After Courtney caught the bouquet at a friend’s wedding, Bailey proposed shortly after—on the following morning! Courtney reveals that Bailey had a plan to propose, but once the bouquet was caught, there was no time to wait. Bailey even made a GoPro video of the engagement session to preserve every moment.

The couple had ideas for their wedding before they got married, but when it came to inspiration, Courtney says that Bailey was the only muse she needed. Courtney remembers, “We both had very high-level ideas of how we wanted our wedding to look. Getting them to come together cohesively was what we thought would be the challenge.” We adore the “industrial/chic” theme they decided to go with!

Courtney had four different dresses picked out before finally finding “the one." She says, “I tried on the first one and just felt so right. I tried on a few others, just to make sure, but always went back to the first dress.” We love the subtle touches of lace and details on the brides’ dresses!

As they searched for a venue, the couple wanted to find one with the right “feeling.” The White Rose Event Center worked with the wedding's theme and had a friendly connection. The couple explains, “The owner is a friend of Bailey. It was located between Courtney’s hometown and Bailey’s hometown. It just felt so right!”

When it came to picking out vendors, the couple relied a lot on family friends to provide the best for their big day. They found their photographer through a friend’s recommendation and loved her work, so they knew they had to meet up with her in person. Courtney gushes, “We met at a Starbucks to see how we vibed, and the rest is history.”

What we love

Bailey and Courtney put their own creative spin on their big day. We love that the couple went D.I.Y. and made their centerpieces by hand! This was done by buying Costco brand ‘Mountain Bouquet’ flowers and assembling them two days before the wedding. Talk about working on a deadline! Their wedding was catered by local businesses who were family friends and a friend performed at their reception, so everyone had the chance to be part of their special day!

Courtney says, “We really made the day our own regardless of if it were considered the ‘norm’ for a wedding. We had a taco bar for dinner, no wedding cake and two brides!” A taco bar at a wedding? We’re here for it!

Advice from the couple

Courtney urges couples to chose an officiant that the couple personally knows for an even better experience. She adds, “The day flies by and the few moments we took to just look around and appreciate what our efforts in planning created made us feel so grateful and loved by everyone who made the day happen.”
