We love when wedding vendors pull together to show off what can be done in a new venue space. Luckily, a few wedding connoisseurs dreamt up a moody, glamorous style shoot within the walls of a new venue — The Carnegie Library in Mishawaka, Indiana. Captured by Forever Images by Melissa Ann and designed by Snapdragon Designs — the team pulled off an edgy shoot that highlighted all that this venue has to offer. Melissa says, “The idea was proposed by Chandra at Snapdragon Designs, who wanted to showcase an exciting new venue in our area! We were picturing a moody, vintage, eloquent design to go with the sophisticated library and its amazing history.”

The venue was the main focus of this shoot. Melissa adds, “Carnegie Library Special Events opened in August of 2018 at the former historic Carnegie Library at 122 Hill St. in Mishawaka, Indiana. Owner George Pesek has swept our area with the mouth-watering cuisine at Corndance Tavern, Evil Czech Brewery and the newest of his restaurants, Jesús Latin Grill and Tequila Bar. It is truly a treasure and an amazing addition to downtown Mishawaka. We chose The Carnegie because of the recent renovation showcasing its rich history as a library, with new finishes and beautiful elements including chandeliers and wood floors as well as bookcases filled with beautiful books!”

The team wanted a shoot that would mimic the venue’s fine features. Melissa says, “The color palette was selected to play perfectly with the old books and their opulent tones. The effect was moody and elegant, tying perfectly to the history of the building.”

To go along with that sophisticated vision, the team chose a bridal look that was modern and chic. The dress was from Treats Bridal in Plymouth, Indiana. Melissa says, “We selected a Mori Lee gown which shimmered with crystal, beaded embroidery that met a flowing, soft chiffon split skirt. It has delicate straps with a corset-styled back and matching satin bodice lining which completed this eloquent look.”

“When designing the stationery for this shoot, we wanted to continue the eloquence with our overall style. Zazzle allows personal customization to their designs allowing us to create stationery with a cohesive look including our rich jewel tones and elegant lush florals," says Melissa. “The invitations, table numbers, RSVPs and menu cards were designed with classy navy blue and burgundy florals with elegant faux gold fonts.”

The cake was from Black Currant Bakehouse. The deep palette of the shoot mixed with modern, geometric patterns made the cake a true masterpiece. Melissa adds, “It was such a gorgeous element to the shoot. It completely captured both the color palette and the mood of the room and stood out as a statement!"
