Imagine the perfect late summer day: blue skies with fluffy white clouds, a gentle breeze blowing through the trees, the golden light of August casting a warm glow on surrounding fields. This idyllic setting came to life at a recent style shoot highlighting Culver’s newest wedding venue, Lake Max Meadows. Owner Becky Furry brought in a dream team, led by Liz from The Garden by Elizabeth, to showcase the venue’s refined rustic charm.

Originally a working farm, Lake Max Meadows is now home to a wedding venue with a unique weekend package. Booking the venue includes two nights in the Lake Max Loft, located in the Big Red Barn, and The Studio, in addition to the reception barn. “This feature allows wedding couples to make Lake Max Meadows their home for the entire weekend of their wedding with only one wedding per weekend from April through October.”

Modern amenities, including restrooms and the new deck which overlooks the surrounding meadows, have updated The Blue Boat Barn to mimic the chic farmhouse stylings of the other buildings on site. Owner Becky said, “We put a great deal of thought and love into each feature of the design to express our love for the beauty of our property, while honoring our passion for sailing and nautical lifestyle.” The bride in this shoot got ready in the Big Red Barn, a designer’s dream of a space, while our groom had his time before the ceremony in The Studio, a space home to a loft with gorgeous natural light.

For this shoot, the team dressed the handcrafted farm tables in The Blue Boat Barn, a traditional barn-style venue which seats up to 200 guests. Florals in fresh greenery and yellow played toward the coming autumn and honored the agricultural roots of the venue. Liz, with the creative help of Ashley from AAYS Event Rentals (Always At Your Service), also created a quaint tablescape beneath a gorgeous tree in the meadow. After saying “I do” in the fields outside the barn, our newlyweds stole a quiet moment in the meadow. The images for this shoot were beautifully captured by Marah Grant Photography (note the great shot of Buoy, the Furry family’s dog!)*, while behind the scenes filming was done by 27 Entertainment.

*Please note, at this time, only service animals are allowed on property.

Outside the reception space, the porch served as a perfect cocktail spot. The Rusty Windmill created custom wedding decor for us, including bar and bug spray signs to bring the rustic, yet chic feel of a Midwest wedding.

To prep for this stunning style shoot, Allee Do My Makeup set up shop downstairs in the Big Red Barn, using the light streaming in the floor-to-ceiling doors to highlight our bride’s natural beauty. Legacy Salon & Spa worked upstairs to create the classic but relaxed updo. The bride donned a fitted lace gown from Paris House of Bridal that complemented the elegant rustic look the team created. A floral-adorned cake from Delizious Bakery completed the fall farm nuptials.

The team worked hard to highlight the expansive space Lake Max Meadows has. “Illustrating all our venue has to offer from outdoor space to ample indoor options was important. We know today’s brides want to see they have options for being outside, but it’s important to know your venue can accommodate an equally beautiful indoor setting for wedding day preparations. A couple’s images from their day are their ticket back to memories, and having a gorgeous setting for everything--from getting ready to ceremony and reception--has been thought of at Lake Max Meadows,” Becky explained.

Lake Max Meadows offers a variety of perks to potential couples: while the venue does not provide a wedding planner or catering, they have begun establishing an exceptional list of preferred vendors. The proximity to the historic town of Culver, home of the Culver Academies and Lake Maxinkuckee, also offers a wide range of amenities to entertain wedding guests so a couple can have a wedding weekend experience instead of just a one day event.. Being a new wedding venue also means Lake Max Meadows has dates available for 2020, including, at the time of this post, one very special weekend--10/10/20!

“We can hardly wait to meet the couple who books this once in a lifetime anniversary date!” Becky said.
