Swan Lake Elegance: A Ballet-Inspired Style Shoot in Chicago

Inspired by the romance and artistry of ballet, this stunning Chicago style shoot transformed The Blackstone Hotel into a scene straight out of a winter fairytale! The concept began when Niela Callanan of Reverie & Co Events and Brooke of Brooke & David Photography started envisioning a Swan Lake-inspired editorial featuring ballerinas. Niela then expanded those ideas into what became a soft, elegant and romantic design filled with intentional details. "Everything, including the string players, the draping, the fabric and the venue, was intentional," Niela shares. Despite the challenge of coordinating vendors during the busy week between Christmas and New Year's, the team brought their vision to life within the historic Blackstone Hotel, whose character-filled interiors and romantic winter ambiance perfectly complemented the concept.

What We Love

Every design element in this shoot worked together to evoke the beauty of a classic ballet performance. A timeless palette of green, white, black and soft neutrals created a refined, Swan Lake-inspired atmosphere, while textured stationery added depth and character to the tablescape. The bride's feather-accented gown provided the perfect dramatic statement while beautifully reflecting the shoot's swan-inspired theme. From the flowing fabrics and ballet dancers to the live dress portrait artist and talented string musicians, each detail felt thoughtfully curated to immerse guests in the romance and sophistication of a winter ballet. The result is an editorial that feels both graceful and unforgettable!
