Katie Nguyen Huber of Kenley Event Design couldn’t resist the tugs at her heart to design a style shoot at the The Harris Building, a local venue that just completed a renovation.
When she finally put her plans into action, the team of talented vendors came together flawlessly in just one short week. “Kaci of Damsel Floral provided the centerpiece and bouquet for the shoot, while I worked on the greenery for the ceremony and dinner table backdrop,” Katie says. “Kaci has a great eye for organic, free flowing textures and shapes, which is exactly what I was looking for.”
While touring the space for a wedding, Katie stumbled on a back room with lots of great light. What did this creative envision in the hauntingly beautiful space, complete with brick, history and charm? A romantic design inspired by the gardens of Tuscany. Her vision included overgrown vines, neutral colors, simple accents and a bit of masculine touches infused into the feminine elements. “I was so happy with how everything turned out, and Jill Devries captured everything perfectly,” Katie says.
Mirroring their neutral palette, the team kept the bride’s look sweet and simple with stunning separates from Spring Sweet. The bride’s look was both minimal and ethereal. “Diane is a natural beauty with long, flowing locks, and I wanted to her to feel comfortable and herself,” Katie says.
The Cakabakery did a great job translating the team’s vision of marbled cake, decorated with fruit. Heather Tucker, the designer behind the stationery, also did an amazing job infusing the Tuscan Italian art and textiles you might see in Italy into the design.
What We Love
There’s no doubt garlands and greenery are both gorgeous and one of today’s hot trends. Not being able to nail into the brick walls of the venue, the team suspended their garlands of green from a birch pole. We say: How smart and lovely!
