Romantic Sea-Inspired Style Shoot

With a desire to capture the romantic-yet-untamed beauty of the ocean, Ashley of Ashley Slater Photography and Shelby of The Day's Design planned a "Sand and the Sea" stylized wedding using the shores of Lake Michigan. "We envisioned the shoreline, the crashing waves and fresh air, wanting to keep everything very ethereal with decor that seemed like it might have been washed up from a shipwreck," explains Shelby.

Fortunately (and unfortunately), Mother Nature took the shipwreck vision to heart and delivered a unseasonably cold and misty day in May which resulted in a moody atmosphere—perfect for the vendor team's vision. The other sea-inspired elements took on a similar look with the model donning a wind-blown look and gown, faded furniture and ethereal floral. "This was a barefoot and raw occasion – come as you are and celebrate love," says Shelby.
