Kathie met Dwight in downtown Rockford and sparks have been flying ever since! After dating for a while, Dwight took Kathie and their two youngest for a trip to Kathie's hometown, Marquette. There, he proposed to Kathie on the Black Rocks on Lake Superior!
"I first set out to find venues, bought a wedding planner book, then photographer, etc." Kathie says. "I did all the big things first." In fact, her wedding planning book—The Wedding Planner Checklist— helped her stay on schedule in her wedding planning process. Knowing that she wanted a rustic-themed wedding, Kathie used Pinterest to find exactly what she wanted on her big day. The couple selected Michigan photographer, Kara Hanes Photography, who captured all of the romance in their big day!
The venue Kathie picked tugged at her heartstrings. Kathie gushes, "It reminded me of my childhood. I wanted a rustic theme, and it was a good memory of how I grew up with the farmhouse, the barn and the field." The rest of her vendors were found online but going and visiting them was what really solidified them in Kathie's mind, especially when it came to the dress! Kathie walked out with something she never expected, and we think she looks stunning in it! Another excellent find was The Silo Banquets and Catering, who provided the delicious reception meal!
What We Love
Kathie's father passed years ago, but they wanted him to be a part of the ceremony. "I had a '57 Chevy come to the venue," Kathie explains. "My father had one just like it. It was like he was there with us in spirit through this vehicle."
Advice from the Couple
Kathie advises, "Really follow the wedding planner timeline and make sure things are paid in time. Also enjoy the planning and ask for help if needed."
