Emilie and Stephen met at a demolition derby. They had both been invited by a mutual friend and had no idea what was in store for them. Emilie adds, “She had not invited us for the two of us to meet but we ended up chatting the whole night and hit it off."
Stephen invited Emilie to the UK to meet his whole family and the couple decided to plan a 15 day trip around England and Scotland while they were there. Emilie says, “We had snuck away to Glencoe, Scotland for my birthday for a few days. We were in the highlands and it was absolutely breathtaking. He got down on one knee next to Loch Leven and asked if I would travel the world with him as his wife. Obviously, I said yes!”
The couple quickly started planning their next steps. Emilie knew that she wanted Kayla of Weeping Willow Photography to capture their engagement session. Emilie says, “I have known Kayla since we were in middle school. She and my cousin are best friends. I have always loved her work and knew that is who I wanted. She was the first thing we booked after getting engaged!”
The couple has been planning not only one wedding but two, since Stephen’s family is in the UK and Emilie’s is here! They say, “We didn’t know whether or not we wanted a big wedding here or a smaller, more intimate wedding somewhere else. We chose to have one here and one in Scotland. We added the Scotland wedding a few months after planning most of the one here in South Bend.”
