The Venue
It may be a surprise to some to find that Southwest Michigan is home to some of the most beautiful vineyards in the world. For those of us that are in on the secret, well, we are in love! One of those stunning locales is Hidden Vineyard Wedding Barn. This venue is not only sought after by Michigan brides but brides from across the country (including California). That is why Hidden Vineyard Wedding Barn was picked as the site of our 2019 Issue 2 cover shoot.
The Vision
Kelsey Hahn of White Dahlia Events helped bring to life this romantic vineyard vision captured by Cynthia Mae Photography. She says, “WeddingDay came to me with the general direction they wanted to go, which was an Italian Vineyard theme. I loved it so much and ran with it. I’ve heard Hidden Vineyard referred to as the ‘Napa Valley’ of Michigan, so it was very fitting!” With the desire of a warm atmosphere with elegant, romantic features there was no other place to do this shoot. “What is there not to love about it?”, asks Kelsey. “From the rustic barn with a large back deck and the 150-year-old ceremony tree to the beautiful vineyard tucked behind the crystal pond and wildflower field, there is space for limitless romance.” Hidden Vineyard is host to natural elements that easily add enchantment to any ceremony.
The Look
“We really wanted something elegant, flowy and lacy that would fit the elegant Tuscan feel we were seeking,” says Kelsey. “BIANKA Bridal definitely came through with a gorgeous A-line dress, with a tasteful plunging neckline and delicate lace details.” To pair with this modern gown, Nicholas J Salon created a soft, feminine makeup look for the bride. A relaxed updo with a gorgeous smoky eye created the ultimate romantic look. The Groomsman Suit offered masculine prowess and modern style. A groom outfitted like this is sure to leave his significant other smiling!
The Florals
For this truly amorous shoot, there had to be florals that were nothing less than lavish. Crystal Spring Florist designed florals that went above and beyond for this vision. Kelsey notes, “We wanted the flowers to be elegant yet have lots of texture. So, we included a lot of greenery like eucalyptus, dusty miller and Ivan Hoe. For the flowers, we used pale pink and ivory garden roses. We also added sprigs of Brunia Berry for texture and color. Along the table, we used curly willow branches to really give the table some fullness and texture.”
The DÉcor
There were several pieces that added to the theme of the shoot. Utilizing rustic farm tables and cross back chairs, the team built upon these using a beautiful pairing of modern slate-gray tableware with soft linen textures for an airy edge. Kelsey says, “Topped off with a slate-gray napkin and gold silverware to frame the dishes, the tablescape was complete. It was a stunning mix of modern, elegant and vintage.” The stationery also added to these stunning textures. Created by Noteworthy Expressions, the elegant invitation suite, stylish acrylic seating chart and menus were the perfect accents to impress guests.
The Dessert
C’est La Vie Cakes made a simple, traditional cake for the shoot but with a little twist. Adding a watercolor design with pieces of greenery made the cake stand out. It brought together the organic elements of the vineyard and the modern style of the shoot. Kelsey adds, “Then, we also had an assortment of Italian desserts, wines and crudites platter.” This was truly an assortment of delicious, Instagram-worthy treats!
