History meets design in this Exclusive WeddingDay Style Shoot. Located in Goshen, Indiana, Rock Run Creek Barn is a lovable Midwest highlight for any couple wanting to add a touch of history to their barn wedding. Built in the 1850s, the barn is surrounded by peaceful fields to provide a perfect escape for a big city bride or an elegant space for a country wedding.

Rock Run Creek Owner Elvera Miller explains that the space was recently renovated in 2018, but still maintains many of its original historical features. She says, “The inside walls of the barn are built out of rough sawn poplar wood and hand-hewn poplar beams. If you’re inside looking up at the ceiling, you will still see the original wood shingles. The crystal chandeliers add a soft glow on the wood, creating a warm, romantic feel.”

This romance is exactly what our style shoot team was chasing. Sarah Farthing, owner of All in the Details, explains that this shoot’s theme was centered around the concept of a “Progressive Prairie.” She says, “I wanted to honor the history of this amazing barn from the 1800s through the shoot, but also add contemporary elements to show how this venue could be considered progressive in both its modernization and preservation. The prairie element came about because the Rock Run Creek Barn is situated on a beautiful property, and the inspiration of wildflowers is all around. The combination of all of these elements served as the initial vision for this styled shoot.”

Sarah and the team focused on keeping an organic touch, staying true to the property’s history. “I wanted it to feel like the bride could have gone outside that morning and picked her bouquets and centerpieces,” Sarah explains. The florals, designed by Bee Season Floristry, were picked locally to give off a “fresh from the farm” vibe. Blooms like thistle, ornamental grasses, brown-eyed Susans and strawflowers were used to create a light and airy feel throughout the shoot. The stationery by Noteworthy Expressions continues to tie in the whimsical wildflower theme, down to each calligraphed letter!

Contemporary elements such as the blue and white goblets, gold-rimmed champagne flutes, blush and platinum china and Gisele flatware rented from Burns Rent-Alls provided a perfect touch of modernization. The blue toile napkins, cake table linen and the white garden lace top runner from Chair Covers and Linens gave a touch of a traditional wedding. If a bride is looking to add a few vintage vibes, Rock Run Creek Barn comes with a variety of exclusive rentals in their booking package, including barrels, old doors, crates, wood slabs, arches and easels.

Dutch Maid Bakery created the dreamiest floral hand-painted cake to reflect our wildflower inspiration. Additionally, personal pastries were adorned with fruit and guests' names to act as place cards.

Rock Run Creek Barn is perfect for a couple looking for that extra rustic touch to their barn wedding. Elvera adds, “We offer a spacious warming kitchen, inside restroom facilities and dressing rooms for both the bride and groom. You can choose from multiple ceremony spots: one on the lawn and one in the meadow by the beautiful covered bridge. Our basement can be set up for a ceremony in case of inclement weather, but can also be used as a cocktail hour and a buffet food lines.” With a diverse selection of natural backdrops, your wedding will create lasting memories at Rock Run Creek Barn!
