Ceremony & Reception Location
ma belle cherie
Amanda and Leslie wanted a Rococo-style wedding that resembled a French Victorian Tea Party. And they pulled it off, thanks to a very accommodating and dedicated planner, many four-hour conference calls, 18 months of design and planning, two full days of setup and a lot of attention to detail.
IN THE BEGINNING
Leslie and Amanda met through friends who thought they would be perfect for each other. Leslie proposed to Amanda in February of 2012 and the wedding was set for the summer of 2014 so they would have plenty of time to plan every last detail. But when Amanda got accepted into law school at the University of Texas, they moved to the lone star state and had to do long-distance wedding planning.
THE DRESSES
This couple knew they both wanted lace, but that’s all they knew. Leslie found hers at Bridal Superstore near Posy Patch. The first dress she tried on was classic, slightly understated with a low back and a modest neckline. That was it!
Amanda said yes to hers at Brides by Demetrios. The one she picked was lightweight and perfect for an outdoor wedding. She loved, loved loved the layer of sequins that shimmered with every step yet was an under layer so it wasn’t too sparkly.
*WHAT WE LOVE*
Amanda’s mother surprised her with a lace baby bonnet she had kept tucked away until her wedding and Leslie’s mother gave her a piece of handmade lace made by a late Great Aunt. Their bouquets were wrapped in these special gifts.
IT’S ALL IN THE NAME
Because neither Leslie nor Amanda felt comfortable taking each other’s names, they decided to go with the last name of Leatherman, which was the last name of Amanda’s mom’s older brother, who died in an accident at age 16. As the only boy in a family of four, he would have been the only child to carry on the family name. Described as hilarious, daring, vivacious and funny, they wanted to honor him by taking his name.
THE VISION: CAREFULLY MISMATCHED
The two wanted a celebration that was very feminine, dreamy, over-the-top and just bursting with a luscious color palette, a greenhouse full of flowers and enough lace and gold to do Rococo proud.
*WHAT WE LOVE*
The table settings included vintage china, gold flatware and napkins rolled into a rose. Certain pieces of the elaborate table settings were made up of china the couple had collected on antiquing trips the past several years. The vintage cake topper is an example of one of their “finds.”
THE COLORS
Leslie and Amanda knew the color scheme from the start: dusty rose, blush, champagne, gold and ivory. They were insistent that everything had to be true to the palette from the dessert boutique to the antique getaway car. Have you ever been at a wedding with pink and gold sparklers? We didn’t think so.
THE FLOWERS
Floral designers created a wedding that was so garden fresh, so dainty, pink and feminine that rococo painter Fragonard would be envious. There were at least six different kinds of roses (did you know roses could be ruffly?) and seasonal flowers and greenery to delight the senses.
*ADVICE FROM THE BRIDES*
Soak up every last detail (and in this case there were a lot to soak up!) and make sure to eat a piece of your own wedding cake.
