Once Upon a Dream
THE PROPOSAL
The couple traveled to James’ family’s lake place in Michigan for the Fourth of July. During the annual fireworks show, he pulled Stephanie aside and got down on one knee.
THE DRESS
A Paloma Blanca gown had everything Stephanie’s heart desired: ivory, fitted, mermaid, silk and lace and buttons down the back and a train for a vintage look.
WHAT WE LOVE
The couple used the elegant, vintage decor of the Henderson Castle to set the mood for the day.
THE CONCEPT
Stephanie had always dreamed about a fall wedding because she loves deep, dark jewel colors, fall scents and getting cozy by the fire. The couple chose The Henderson Castle because it was elegant and vintage. A ceremony on the sweeping steps, stately black horses pulling the carriage through town and dancing in the ballroom – what more do you need to make a dream come true?
WHAT WE LOVE
Dark gray tuxes and red wine bridesmaids’ dresses provided a dramatic color scheme for an autumn wedding and complemented the floral.
A FAVORITE DETAIL
Always a fan of all things vintage and antique, Stephanie couldn’t imagine a wedding without including an old bracelet, a ring from her great aunt or a sepia photograph. James proposed to her with her own grandmother’s ring, which he had shipped to him for the fireworks’ proposal.
THE FLORAL
Elegant off-white roses in Stephanies’s bouquet worked perfectly with her ivory gown. Due to the elegance of the castle, simple centerpieces of clear crystal candleholders and ivory tapered candles were all that was needed.
ADVICE FROM THE BRIDE
When your perfect plan doesn’t quite come together, don’t fret. You’ve put in too much time to not enjoy the day.
