Victoria and Montana met in high school. Despite having started out as just friends, the two soon found that they did not want to be without each other. Montana played it cool by taking Victoria out to dinners and movies, texting her and being there for her...then when the time was right, the couple finally got together, moved to Texas and got engaged!
Montana planned one special proposal for Victoria. She says, "He proposed in the Dominican Republic! We went there for vacation and he planned for us to get photos done…I thought something was up and mentioned getting engaged and he completely shot my idea down. We left the resort to head to a beautiful local beach and met our photographer. We started taking photos and he had Montana pose on knee–I honestly didn’t think anything of it because Montana had told me there was no way we were getting engaged for awhile."
Victoria had already had a serious Pinterest board put together by the time she and Montana got engaged. With a full-fledged plan of colors, decor and more, Victoria set out on booking her perfect venue for her vision. She decided on Mustard Seed Gardens, an ethereal, outdoor venue that would be perfect for her fall wedding.
Some things can bring every woman to tears. For Victoria, trying on the dress that she would wear on her wedding day did just this. She says, "I got my dress at Nancy’s Bridal Boutique in Indianapolis! It is Enzoani! I went in and said 'I don't want poofy, glittery, or sparkly.' I wanted something simple and comfortable and the staff helped pick some pieces out and it was the third one I tried on and I cried!"
what we love
Victoria and Montana's wedding date was extra special. Not only was it the last Saturday in fall available at the venue, but the date was the birthday of Victoria's great grandma. Victoria says, "The fact it was my great grandma’s birthday, an outside wedding ceremony, a first dance under the lights and then a barn reception all gave me heart eyes!"
advice from the bride
Not every wedding has to be planned within a year. Victoria took her time planning and knows what a help having a longer engagement can be. "I loved having a longer engagement—18 months. That gave us time to plan the wedding of our dreams and get the vendors we wanted because everyone books SO early. Also, enjoy every little second and detail, it is such a fun time and truly is the best day ever."
