Mod Elopement with Romantic Florals: A Style Shoot at Aventura

J Eliza Events’ love for elopements and Ann Arbor inspired this romantically playful styled shoot, taken place in the heart of downtown Ann Arbor. “I appreciate events that are casual and effortless, while also visually beautiful and personal,” says Julie, owner of J Eliza Events. “That is where the setting, Aventura, came into play. Have you seen that mosaic wall?!” The wall served as the visual inspiration for the shoot. “Visually, I pictured a bit of a mod aesthetic with romantic floral gestures”. In Julie’s heart, she envisioned a couple glowing with pure joy, having just eloped and on their way to celebrate with loved ones at their favorite downtown restaurant.

Aventura’s mood is romantic and eclectic. It’s in a great location in downtown Ann Arbor and perfectly fit the vision for a city elopement.

The Gown Shop provided both dresses for the shoot. The evening gown for the elopement and the after-party cocktail dress were a sweet and playful contrast.

Garden roses, hellebore, lilac, ranunculus, sweet pea, phlox, eucalyptus added to the romantic feeling – “the garden roses were a nod to the mosaic tile wall,” says Julie.

A number of different companies collaborated to bring additional elements into the mix. The linens came from Kate Spade, Waterford Crystal provided the compote for the floral arrangements, the bar cart came from Target, the flatware from Pier One, and the glassware was purchased from Macy’s.
