“Vintage” is a theme that brides are absolutely loving these days but just how vintage do you go? There are countless eras to choose from, endless ways to interpret them and tons of inspiration out there to help you decide and bring that theme to life!
Channeling the Renaissance vibe in all its glory, Violet of Violet Short Photography and Blush & Bliss Weddings teamed up to capture this very old era and the dark, romantic mood it typically evokes. “Our vision was dark and dramatic with a painterly Renaissance feel. We wanted to stay away from modern elements and really go for an old world vibe with each detail,“ Violet says.
Laurel Hall, a 1916 Jacobean Revival manor, had the ideal mix of history, grandeur and unique details needed to pull off the shoot. Its ample window light was the perfect element Violet needed to achieve the stunning still life painting effect she hoped for.
Dark. Romantic. Flowing. These were the words given to Bokay Florist to inspire their design for the florals. Little of anything else was needed as they put complete trust in the vendor and the incredible results, well, they speak for themselves! “Once our coordinator finished with creating the table setting, I truly felt like I was looking at a perfect Renaissance still life painting,” Violet says. Violet Vintage provided the dishes and assorted props needed to perfect the picturesque tablescape. The scrumptious hors d'oeuvres were provided by Kahn’s Catering and Classic Cakes designed the cake. Imballagio created the unique gift wrapping, complete with velvet and satin ribbons.
From the bride's long, romantic curls to her fresh floral crown, her look is perfectly poised. When it came to her dress, the team first wanted to ensure it looked absolutely gorgeous on her. Their next concern was that it aligned with the theme. The Nancy’s Bridal Boutique gown was the best of both worlds. The waistline and beading detail were nothing short of divine!
What We Love
In an age of light and airy nuptials, it’s refreshing to see how a dark, moody, old world styled wedding can be absolutely stunning and how thrilled the team was with the results. “This shoot was definitely a collaborative effort that came together just as we envisioned it would,” Violet says. “That is a very exciting thing to have a high expectation and feel really satisfied with the results.”
