A Fresh & Modern Grand Rapids Style Shoot

Alicia Lutz of Events by I Candy wanted to bring to life a vision with a new take on wedding design. Alicia says, “Our vision for this photo shoot was based around the idea of a more modern-styled wedding day, using geometric shapes, neutral colors and pops of fresh green.” She partnered with Paige Gabert Photography to bring it all to life.

The decor items were an essential part of this shoot. Alicia notes, “As a company that specializes in decor, we have items available at our disposal. We decided to pull compotes, candle holders and white containers that had a geometric look to them. We liked to take one concept and mix a few different styled items to create an overall look.” These various textures and shapes within the decor helped to shape a contemporary, urban mood.

The bridal look borrowed this modern theme as well. Alicia knew that the dress is often a staple within the shoot. That is why the team chose a simplistic dress with an edgy feel. Alicia adds,“The top of the wedding dress was very sleek with clean lines. The bottom of the dress had a bit more movement with a full skirt. It was a unique gown while still keeping the entire look clean with custom silver jewelry.”

One feature of this shoot that is sure to catch any bride’s eye are the florals. “These florals, in particular, where created using our signature silk collection,” says Alicia. “We kept a sleek color palette using white florals paired with some beautiful greenery that really made the overall look pop.”
