David and Tony met on MySpace (yes, MySpace–not everything happens on the ‘gram) and it all started with one little message. Luckily, the two instantly felt connected and the rest is history as they say. It was on a trip to New York City with their mothers when Tony proposed. The couple says, “While in between shows we took in the tourist sites around New York City. After taking a ferry to Liberty Island, Tony got down on one knee and proposed to David near the Statue of Liberty with the New York City skyline in the background.”

David and Tony had a shared vision for the day. They wanted a fun celebration that also pulled in details that reflected who they are as a couple. They started seeking wedding pros that could bring their vision to life. They say, “Tom’s Custom Trees installed 16-foot white birch trees along the aisles of the church sanctuary.” These were the perfect touch to the space and made it all the more fun for the guests upon arrival.

Picking their reception venue was easy. “Faith is an important part of our lives, so we knew all along we wanted to get married in our Presbyterian church,” says David. “The reception space was definitely a longer journey to find.” David and Tony were at The Cabaret for an event when the staff announced that they were remodeling a new event space at the venue. “We knew that it would be the perfect space to have the reception,” says David. “After meeting with The Cabaret staff, they were excited to host their first wedding in the existence of their organization.”

The couple went for a classic, yet timeless wedding look. They add, “We rented our tuxes from Men’s Wearhouse. All of the tuxes including the groomsmen's were Vera Wang. David and Tony’s brother, Tommy, were in midnight blue tuxes. Tony and David’s brother, Sean, were in traditional black tuxes. During the reception, David and Tony traded out flowers for lapel pins on their jackets.”

Advice from the couple

David and Tony say, “The best advice we can provide after the whole experience is to do and have what you want. We had many friends and family offering advice on all aspects of the wedding and reception, but we realized we needed to stay true to ourselves and our original vision.”
