The option of elopements may be something that has crossed the mind of many couples when it comes to tying the knot. Especially as elopements are becoming a popular option with modern couples given financial reasons, time and stress.
A study conducted by OnePoll and commissioned by Stillwhite.com found that only 39 percent of brides reported financial contribution from their families and that 6 out of 10 couples considered an elopement over a traditional wedding.
Brides and grooms alike are starting to realize that elopements are an authentic, stress-free option for marriage. On top of that, there are elopement companies popping up across the country that curate personally stylized elopement ceremonies so that couples can still celebrate in fashion. One elopement vendor group in Indianapolis offers an all-inclusive service from a licensed officiant and photographer to florals and design options. Sarah Agee, owner and designer at Plum & Poppy Weddings, a wedding planning and design company in this Indy-based group, says, “You can have all the same personal details like writing your own vows at an elopement. We take care of all the big and little details so they can focus on each other and their guests.” That is right! You still get those personal details that make the day truly yours.
“We take all the hard work out of it. We help make things simple and easy,” adds Sarah. “We can also help them pull things together in a short time frame.” This easy and ready-to-go option is a no-brainer to many young couples and the price tag is even more inviting. It gives Millennials that desired, individualized experience without sacrificing the significance and connection that a wedding day represents. Sarah also notes, “You can still have guests at your elopement. Many couples choose to just have their closest friend or parents in attendance.” Knowing that you will only have the people that mean the most to you there on the most meaningful day of your life can subtract any extraneous distractions (cue that cousin who can’t stop whining about how they will forever be single). Many groups of vendors around the country are making it their goal to curate genuine, stylish elopements for couples and Millennials are loving the option.
As elopements are departing far from that stereotypical image of a fast, courthouse affair—photographers, florists and wedding designers are forging a new style of wedding. Couples can now get everything they want and more by simply purchasing an elopement package. Best of all, there is almost nothing they need to plan. Sarah says, “All the couple needs to do is buy their clothing, invite whomever they’d like and plan the details they want to include.” These details can include flowers, dessert and hair and makeup. A couple can go from engaged to married within a few weeks without breaking the bank and avoiding all that planning stress.
