A Whimsical, Brunch-Style Wedding: The Wedding of Emily Featherstone and Nate Mundy

Emily and Nate met at work. Funny enough, they worked in different departments and only met because there was a training day for the company. Emily notes, “We worked in different departments and in different buildings, so we’d never met before but we noticed each other instantly. We’ve been inseparable since that day.” It wasn’t long after that day that they went on their first date and that instant attraction was felt again.

A year and a half later, Nate popped the big question. “We were on vacation in Germany, and he proposed in the garden of a palace we visited,” says Emily. “It was raining, but beautiful — and no one else was around!” Can someone just say how much of a movie moment this proposal was? We are grabbing tissues over here!

When the planning started, the couple knew of a few things they wanted. Emily says, “Neither of us loves being the center of attention, so we didn’t want a huge wedding with all the traditional activities. We wanted an intimate celebration with our closest family and friends.” Combining that desire for a small wedding with their love for breakfast foods, the couple decided on an intimate Sunday brunch celebration.

Emily and Nate were searching for a venue that would be ideal for their brunch-style wedding. They wanted something cozy and hometown-like. They found Sundance Studios! Emily adds, “When we found Sundance Studios, I fell in love with it. It was the perfect blend of cozy, vintage and unique. Everything about the venue, from the garden to the interior decor to the colorful windows, perfectly complemented the theme of our wedding.”

Emily wanted a whimsical, yet modern dress that would complement their intimate wedding. She went to Marie Gabriel Couture Bridal in Indianapolis. She says,”It was Hayley Paige’s Nicoletta style. I’ve always loved the ethereal style and subtle sparkle of Hayley Paige gowns. I tried on about 15 dresses at a few different dress shops before I found my dress.”

What we love

We love that Emily and Nate involved their family as much as possible. Emily’s own brother officiated the ceremony, which made it all the more special. “We worked hard to make everything about the wedding reflect us as a couple,” Emily says. “We did a ring warming so that all our parents and grandparents could be a part of our ceremony.”

Advice from the couple

Emily and Nate say, “Make your wedding what you want it to be. Don’t be afraid to do something different than the norm to make it more personal for you.”
