Elegance has a new minimal vibe in this submission to our 2020 Style Shoot Design Contest. Leila Breton, owner of Curvy Custom Bride, wanted to give couples whose weddings were dramatically impacted by COVID-19 a lovely, intimate alternative to their big day. “Everyone is coping differently, but one of the things that stands out is the relief some of them have when scaling back and creating an intimate wedding,” she says.
Keeping with the alternative vibe, Leila chose to host this shoot in an AirBnB. She says, “In thinking about keeping the shoot intimate and luxe, this space can accommodate a small party inside and out, but with COVID keeping guest numbers low, it’s perfect and cozy.” With a neutral backdrop, it was the ideal space to showcase Classic Blue, the 2020 Pantone Color of the Year.
Leila designed this two-piece gown to have a contemporary take on the traditional look. Kicking veils to the curb, the addition of a tulle bridal cape is a gorgeous modern twist! The model did her own makeup to achieve a clean and crisp look of natural beauty. The bride’s sleek look paired with the groom’s slightly tousled appearance makes for a match made in heaven!
This stationery’s minimalist look brings in a touch of blue to tie in the overall palette of the shoot.
Geometric architecture influenced this metallic designed cake. Inspired from her love of Frank Lloyd Wright buildings, Leila created a design board for this confection, and the result makes this cake a true work of art!
Peonies take center stage in this shoot as the main flower in the floral arrangements. Leila chose them specifically because they would be in season during the time of the shoot. “Sustainability also means choosing flowers that are in season and working with what’s available to make a gorgeous bouquet,” she says.
