This Indiana Barn Wedding is Bursting with Colors: The Real Wedding of Torie and Brad Rusche

Torie had just moved to Indiana from Florida when her cousin set her up with her friend, Brad. After hitting it off at a cookout, Brad asked for Torie’s number, and the two went on their first official date two nights later. When they knew it was meant to be, Brad popped the question on Valentine’s Day! “He grabbed a stack of envelopes for me to open,” Torie remembers. “In each envelope was a letter dated and addressed to me, and was a letter Brad wrote after different events in our relationship. The final letter was dated the day we went on our first date and it ended with ‘Will you marry me?’"

Torie comes from an Amish-Mennonite family, so it was important for her to get married at a barn venue that reflected her heritage. We love it when a couple honors their roots! 

What we love

Before they met, Brad had prayed almost daily for his future wife with his local pastor. Brad knew after their first date that he would marry Torie, so it was only fitting that their pastor married them!

Advice from the couple

Because of COVID-19, Torie’s planning process looked different, and she suspects she isn’t the last bride to be affected. “I would encourage brides planning around COVID-19 to give themselves room to be sad for a minute if they have to give up something special,” she says. “But then to focus on what is most important, enjoy all the other special moments, and get yourself married!”
