Having trouble deciding between modern and traditional styles for your wedding? This style shoot could help you choose! Tanya Lawrence of Tanya Lynette Events wanted to do a shoot that incorporated both styles. Tanya brought numerous vendors together to perfectly create two shoots in one day! One of the photographers, Michael Miller of March 81 Photography, explains, "The shoot was as much about creating beautiful images as it was about having the opportunity to work with and get to know other wedding vendors so we can better serve our wedding couples."
We certainly think this team nailed creating a shoot that was like no other. They combined the opposite ideas of modern wedding styles and traditional wedding themes so beautifully in this shoot. Part of what helped to achieve this was the venue. "We choose to work with The Harris Building because it is such an interesting venue that can achieve so many different looks for a wedding," Michael gushes. "It offers couples both a more intimate space but also a large, wide-open space depending on their needs."
You'll notice that some of the decor ties the two opposing shoots together—like the champagne cart— while other pieces separate them—for example, the table setting. However, a lot of thought went into the contrasting decor, especially the color schemes. Michael says, "The color palettes we chose we wanted to be palettes that could be used year-round and also have a timeless elegance to them." The modern cake is also a delicious touch that brings the whole shoot together!
Speaking of decor, we are obsessed with all the flowers used in this shoot! For the modern side of this shoot, the team strived to make the flowers elegant yet whimsical and fun. The traditional side had fewer flowers, but the most impact on the vendors. "The Genestra smelled absolutely amazing and resulted in so many comments from all involved with the photoshoot," Michael raves.
Along with the decor, the dresses also reflect the two styles while making the brides look beautiful. "For the two shoots, we tried to select dresses that complemented the overall look and feel that we were going for," Michael adds, Though the details and styles are different, the dresses could be shot together if they had been in the same shoot, which draws some cohesiveness between the two shoots and make both brides absolutely stunning!
