Inspired by the painting "Ophelia" by Sir John Everett Millais, Creative in Bloom and her team of creatives dreamed up a style shoot for our 2022 Style Shoot Design Contest, sponsored by AAYS Event Rentals, to show off the ethereal yet strong personality of the leading ladies of Shakespeare's plays. "A bit of Ophelia, a dash of Juliet, hints of Beatrice, and a few drops of Hermia," Anna Clark, photographer of this shoot, shares. "Our bride dances through each scene, longing for her love to appear and ready to celebrate their bond." We love this unique take on our 'Inspired by Stories' theme!
Taken with the unmatched romanticism that fills Shakespeare's plays and sonnets, the team wanted to create an airy and romantic scene filled with blues, purples and browns to give the look depth. Of course, they incorporated the Pantone Color of the Year, Very Peri. Anna explains, "Hints of Very Peri are found throughout the floral, stationery, dessert and dining table designs." With the table décor, the team wanted to transport the bride—along with wedding guests—into A Midsummer's Night Dream. We love the balance of white and the rich colors of this shoot.
Along with the popularity of Very Peri, blue has grown popular in the wedding industry, especially in dresses. The second look for this shoot is a gorgeous tulle gown in slate blue that pops in every photo. "Piles of ruffles accent the bodice and hemline with a cascading skirt that makes us swoon," Anna gushes. "This outfit reflects the romance of our mood and makes us daydream about being swept away." The first look for this shoot is a similar whimsical, tulle silhouette with a white blouse and skirt accented with petite black ribbons. The romantic curls beautifully frame the bride's face and her natural makeup only enhances her beauty!
Drawing inspiration from their source material, the team wanted to make the dessert table look more like the feasts that are mentioned in Shakespeare's plays. Along with the one-tier chocolate iced cake with berries on top, the team added various fruits and berries on the cake display table as well as little berry-filled tarts. All of these items were displayed on silver platters and with candles and flowers surrounding them.
Speaking of flowers, no garden shoot would be complete without an array of flowers to match the beauty of the décor and bride. This shoot is no exception! "Textures and light are found at every corner. Clouds of baby’s breath in the watery hues of this design float in the middle of the table," Anna raves. There are so many flowers in this shoot, some even end up on the stationery!
