The venue operated as a working farm in the early 1900’s, creating a truly rustic space that has since transformed into a modern bride’s dream venue. Manager Jordan Skaltsas says, “The appeal of our venue is the capability to create any style of wedding, shower or other event in our halls. Our programs allow the bride to envision her ideas to paper and the beautiful attributes of the halls help bring it all together.” This vision of versatility is what grounded our WeddingDay Exclusive Style Shoot with a trendy, industrial yet elegant theme.

Savannah Hope | July 26, 2018Located in Valparaiso, Indiana, Zao Island is an exhilarating venue made for couples who are searching for a fun space to celebrate their wedding! We looked to Kelsey Hahn, co-owner of White Dahlia Events, to curate the elegant and stimulating design of this WeddingDay Exclusive Style Shoot. Kelsey was excited to style this shoot, as Zao Island is an amusement center. She says, “I was perplexed with the challenge of coming up with a style and theme that would be fun yet elegant—but after seeing the space, I knew exactly what I wanted to do. So, I came up with a Mid-Century Modern theme. I wanted it to be colorful yet tasteful.” With The Greenhouse at Zao Island’s contemporary and vibrant style, it was easy to bring this vision to life.

Sarah explains, “My husband and I met at a gathering I had over the summer of 2013. His cousin, who was my roommate, invited him to come up to our lake house one evening. From there, we just continued to hang out and got to know each other.” William later popped the question on what would be a life changing trip for them both to Quebec City, Canada.

The entire inspiration for this issue’s cover centered on the gorgeous spaces Apple Blossom Chapel & Gardens has to offer, including their beautiful, blossoming trees. To bring our dreamy, organic vision to life, we settled on nothing less than a star vendor team led by Holden Alee of Holden Michael Events and photographed by Arielle Peters Photography. Styled around the concept of a couple celebrating their very intimate wedding day surrounded by family and friends, Holden and our team infused the perfect mix of color, romance, elegance and whimsy.
