Art Deco Elegance in the Heart of Indianapolis: WeddingDay Magazine's Exclusive 2022 Look Book Cover Shoot

The Vision

When Sarah from All in the Details was asked to help plan this beautiful cover shoot for our 2022 Look Book, she knew she wanted to create a juxtaposition of hard and soft details with different lines, textures and colors. "Throughout this feature you will see more defined shapes or firmer textures in contrast with more fluid items," Sarah gushes. With that idea in mind, Sarah and her team of creative vendors brought this dream to life. Among those was the skilled Aubrey Lynn Photography, who perfectly captured the contrasts of this shoot and highlighted the bride and groom flawlessly!

The Venue

Upon arriving at Bottleworks Hotel, our team was met with a stunning, classic exterior that left us in awe. Located in downtown Indianapolis, Indiana on Mass Ave, this charming hotel seems to have never aged from the moment it was built in the 1930s. When Bottleworks was renovated into a hotel from a Coca-Cola factory, the team restored the exterior of the building to its original glory. Inside, there are plenty of unique spaces (such as The Lab, where Coca-Cola recipes were invented and tasted) and a beautiful new art deco interior with characteristic red doors to keep its Coca-Cola roots. The courtyard is the perfect place for an outdoor ceremony and reception with plenty of space for guests and beautiful patio lights suspended above it so your guests can celebrate into the night!

The DÉcor

"I was inspired by the story behind this historic building and wanted to be sure to provide small nods throughout the shoot to the bubbly soft drink that was once bottled there," Sarah shares. To keep with the art deco theme, Sarah utilized plenty of black details in the shoot. With a flare for the bold and taking risks, Sarah used a black linen to line both the trendy serpentine guest table and the dessert table. She also used black stoneware in various shapes, black stemmed glasses and black chiavari chairs. All of the dark details were then accented by golden dinnerware, white candles, white roses as a "living runner" and white napkins. As for the sweetheart table, a light linen was used to contrast the dark dinnerware. Darling Design Co. also created stunning stationery and paper goods that matched the 1930s art deco feel!

The Look

Does our bride look familiar to you? You may have seen her on our social media pages as the winner of our 2021 Cover Model Search contest! As our winner, she was styled in two beautiful gowns from our Cover Model Search and Look Book sponosr, America's Bride. The ceremony gown was a stunning, fit-and-flare lace gown with detachable off-the-shoulder sleeves. There are plenty of delicate floral details on the bodice of the dress. One of our favorite additions to the gown is the scalloped lace veil. The reception gown has a classic and elegant feel as a satin fit-and-flare sleeveless dress. For her hair and makeup, BÜK Weddings styled her with a golden eyeshadow to match the gold details of the shoot and a soft yet bright lip color. Her hair was a classic curly ponytail with a few braids and some pieces left out to frame her face. The groom matches her elegant look with a classic black and white tux from SuitShop.

The Florals

Sarah had a very specific idea when she started to think about the flowers for this shoot, especially the bouquet. "I requested that the stems be left long and that they were wrapped together with a velvet ribbon that showcased handwritten vows calligraphed by Samantha Wagner," Sarah explains. On the sweetheart table, there is a centerpiece made of the same white flowers as the bouquet. We think there's just the right amount of florals to bring whimsy into this elegant shoot!

The Desserts

The team had two different dessert setups. The first was in The Lab, and it showcased the three magnificent cakes we had for this shoot. With a unique rectangular design, these cakes are truly one-of-a-kind. "Two Sons Cakery produced three amazing works that perfectly fit the theme and showcased some amazing textures and clean sharp lines. The cakes were modern but their architectural elements were a nod to art deco style," Sarah raves. For the reception dessert table in the courtyard, Sarah displayed some bottles of Coca-Cola along with her take on an ice cream float by adding Coca-Cola to classic ice cream glasses. She also included some other easy-to-grab desserts that remind us of Coca-Cola lids!
