This modern Indianapolis styled shoot comes with a twist of art deco style! In this shoot, Cait Morgan of Cait Morgan Photography shows that the personality of a modern wedding can be displayed in a traditional venue. Cait says, “You can be edgy and romantic at the same time! I wanted to really personalize and showcase how details can speak to your own personality, regardless of how ‘classic’ looking a venue or dress might be.” The 1920s was a period of drama and style, and with the art deco theme, it combined to create this gorgeous timeless wedding shoot!

The inspiration for the stationery was the detail and lettering of art nouveau. The delicate lettering sweeps us away with the charm of a different time.

This elegant dress is a stunning piece that ties the time period into the shoot. Cait says the dress was a last-minute gift from Ella Mae’s Bridal Boutique. Cait gushes, “The tulle with the layers of beading and design, as well as the almost-mermaid style silhouette, brought in the art deco vibe. The detailed attention to the cut and style of the back of the dress was to die for. It gave the dress an edge and a romantic finish.” We love the elegant beading and delicate lace detail this dress has!

But the bride is only one star in this shoot. We think this groom has a swaggy style all on his own! His first outfit is edgy and timeless, but Cait notes his second outfit is really where the personality shines. Cait says, “The pants were the best thing. It was a risk I hope more grooms feel encouraged to take! Pairing his outfits with her dress brought so much more of the edgy, creative, art deco vibe we were going for!”

The headpiece steals the show with that golden glam! Cait says that the bride’s hair was pinned up in a soft 1920s style bob, while getting a bit more of a modern flair by being let down later in the shot. It maintains the taste of the time period while still looking chic and modern.

Laurel Hall is a historic venue that holds the perfect amount of refined modernism while keeping its timeless feel. With the contrast of the deep wood and those gorgeous wide windows, this venue was perfect for an edgy-romantic shoot. Cait says, “This venue feels a bit like stepping into an English manor, or where I imagine the rich people on the Titanic lived. We used up every inch of space that we could there. One of my favorite parts was the far room with the all-marble floor and walls of windows.”

The flowers used in this shoot brought in a whimsical flair. White poppies, eucalyptus and a pop of black brought an edge and surprise the team was going for.

This cake is simple, yet striking. The art deco style shines through with the colors and style of the art nouveau movement. Cait notes, “It was the perfect addition to create that 1920s appeal.”

We love how this shoot played on the traditional side of weddings while also incorporating modern trends. Cait says the fur coat, bridal crown and personalized letter jacket were the right choices to add to the upcoming bridal trends. Because who doesn’t want to wear a crown on their big day?
