An Eco-Friendly Michigan Farm Wedding: The Real Wedding of Emily and Adam Freed

Photos ByK&D Photography

Emily and Adam met in the mountains in a Vermont state park. Because this pair loves to travel, Adam wanted to pop the question when they were on a trip. Adam got down on one knee in Scotland, asking Emily to be with him forever!

The couple knew they wanted to get married in Michigan, so they began their search for their vendor team there. “Adam and I were interested in incorporating our faith, sustainability and family traditions into the day but the details really emerged in the last few months,” Emily admits. “We checked out thrift stores and vintage shops for inspiration.”

What we love

Emily and Adam wanted to have a natural wedding that had a low environmental impact. It also gave a lot of room for the couple to have quiet, one-on-one moments during the party. “Between the ceremony and the cocktail hour, we snuck away to a nearby forest for some quiet time together and some pictures in one of our favorite places,” Emily says.

Advice from the couple

Emily urges future couples to stay true to their values and style during the planning process. She says, “If something is important to you, like incorporating local food or a family tradition, make sure to prioritize those things!”
