Even though Megan and Samuel have known each other almost their whole lives, they didn't start dating until a few years after they graduated from college. Samuel proposed to Megan in Cape Coral, Florida while both their families were there. "I was told it was a surprise for his parents and even poured the champagne which later found out was actually for me. Then we ended the night with dinner and country line dancing," Megan recalls.
When it came to wedding dress shopping, Megan had a few ideas of what she wanted but no real clear vision. Megan admits, "I had just saved a lot of photos of dresses that caught my eye and showed the stylist at the shop. It was a little all over the place, but she quickly found some commonalities and pulled some dresses for me." Megan ended up loving the fifth dress she tried on. After trying two more—and wanting to be done dress shopping—Megan knew the fifth one was her dress. We love this stunning A-line gown with beautiful lace detailing throughout!
Once she was engaged, Megan had two main goals as she jumped into wedding planning: 1) finding a venue and 2) hosting the wedding before Samuel left the state for eight months. The venue was easy. "I had been to my venue, Garment Factory Events, multiple times for events and just casual dinners. I had always loved the look of it, but the biggest draw was the people there," Megan raves. "Everyone was so accommodating and helpful. They really listened to my vision and helped me game plan making it come to life." With the help of the rest of their vendors. they were able to make their dream wedding come to life!
As far as the theme goes, Megan and Sam finally settled on rustic elegance, which came together beautifully in their venue that featured plenty of wooden touches. We love the way they dressed up the venue to meet that elegant air without taking away anything from the character of the building or their laid-back personalities. Colors were surprisingly easy for Megan and Sam. Megan explains, "For the colors we lucked out because my favorite color is dusty blue and my husband’s is purple, so it was just lucky that they worked well together."
What We Love
Instead of the ever-popular first look, Megan and Sam decided to share a different intimate moment. "Prior to the wedding, my husband and I met for a first touch and prayer before the ceremony, we didn't want to do a first look, but this was a special way we got to have time to slow down before the day got busy," Megan shares. They also had Sam's uncle officiate the wedding, which made it super personal. Another thing they did was ensure that they got photos with all their loved ones at this large wedding, Megan and Sam did a photo dash where they took a photo with each table to create memories they'll cherish forever!
Advice from the Couple
Megan and Sam advise, "Take it one day at a time and ask for help and suggestions from people that have been through it before (as
well as from your other vendors). This one is for the girls, your husband might not care about all the details, but they still do care about the wedding! Lastly, no matter how much planning goes on something will go wrong on the big day so just roll with the punches. I handed off my phone to my maids-of-honor before the rehearsal dinner and through the wedding and any problem that arose was already being taken care of before I even knew about it."
