Enchanting Boho Style in the Michigan Mountains: WeddingDay Magazine's Exclusive 2021 Look Book Cover Shoot

The Vision

With the trend of elopements on the rise, it's no secret that intimate, destination weddings are becoming an attractive option for couples. Hosting your wedding at an all-inclusive resort where your every need is catered to is a plus--and you don't have to travel to the beach to get it. For our first annual 2021 Look Book cover shoot event, we brought together some top-notch Midwest wedding vendor talent that proves your dream destination wedding doesn't need to be that far from home. This Michigan mountaintop cover shoot, hosted at Crystal Mountain Resort in Thompsonville, Michigan and designed by Unveiled Weddings & Events, will have you swooning. Unveiled's owner Michelle Nikitaras and lead planner Allison Kelley curated a gorgeous boho theme that perfectly complements the autumnal setting of the mountains. Captured by the talented meggydphotography, this cover shoot will enchant you with its fall tones and whimsical style.

The Venue

Crystal Mountain Resort served as the ideal location for our cover shoot. Tucked away in the hills of Thompsonville, Michigan, Crystal Mountain is an all-inclusive venue that provides a destination wedding feel while still having a hospitable Midwest atmosphere. Surrounded by gorgeous trees and fall colors, Crystal Mountain is a picturesque setting with some jaw-dropping autumnal scenes. "All of the fall colors were stunning," Michelle says. "It was a perfect crisp fall day on the mountain top and the colors meshed so well together."

The Florals

Mimicking tones of copper, Unveiled Weddings & Events used arrangements of orange orchids and white garden roses to tie in the fall colors found naturally at the venue. Other dried floral details were added to the setting to add an influence of boho. The pampas grass set up at the base of the wooden ceremony arch creates an eye-catching backdrop to say "I do."

The Look

Recognize anyone? Our cover model is the winner of our 2020 Cover Model Search contest, sponsored by Grand Rapids area bridal salon, America's Bride--and we couldn't have asked for a more beautiful bride! Hair and makeup stylist Wild Emerald Bridal took it from there, expertly styling this bride's makeup in warm tones to match the shoot's color scheme. The model's side braid was topped off with a lush floral headpiece. What really steals the show is her America's Bride dress. Providing a stunning silhouette, this gown's delicate lace and glitter details will make anyone stop and stare. And of course, no beautiful bride is complete without her handsome groom! This groom's sharp suit has a flexible fabric for easy and comfortable movement.

The Decor

Modern and boho vibes marry together in this gorgeous tablescape designed by Unveiled Weddings & Events. Candles, two-toned plates and mock-bark place holders give an organic twist to this elegant place setting. Velvet linens paired with copper chargers enhance the tablescape's unique texture while sticking to a copper and teal color palette. The art deco stationery suite, designed by Little Details Creative Studio, adds just a touch of modernization to round out this style. Escaping from the table setting, Unveiled's teal love seat and modern decor created the perfect little nook for a cocktail.

The Cake

This cake is what boho dreams are made of! Third Coast Bakery, a dietary conscious bakery, created this stunning two-tiered confection complete with flecks of gold. Completely gluten-free, dairy-free and vegan, this cake is topped off with a modern golden cake topper and lush boho florals, so it looks just as good as it tastes!
