In a rather unique twist of events, Kelly ended up meeting David through his younger sister Laila. When David needed a date for his last dance at his military academy, both Laila and David's older sister Deanna suggested Kelly. Though they didn't end up going, David kept in touch with Kelly. After dating for awhile, David diverted with a mid-winter dog walk and brought Kelly back to her parents' house where he had pictures, decorations and champagne set up in the basement. That's where he asked Kelly to marry him!
"I sent David a bunch of pictures of rings that I liked, and then I let him pick!" Kelly shares. Even though she wasn't sure what it was going to look like, Kelly loved it. Her favorite thing about this halo ring is that David picked it himself and loves it, too. As far as the engagement session goes, Kelly and David picked their outfits for specific looks. Kelly wanted one feminine and fun look while David suggested a country look since they were living in Nashville at the time. We think their outfits are perfect for their session!
Kelly and David found Vilma Maria Photographer through Kelly's cousin Kathleen. Vilma photographed Kathleen's wedding and Kelly was in love! "I absolutely loved her work and how she operated! I knew that she took great pictures and she was efficient too, which is really important with us," Kelly raves. Their venue for the engagement session came from Vilma as well! She had done a shoot at the Cox Hall Gardens before and loved the location, so Kelly and David trusted her instincts.
"I’m the youngest of all my family members, so I have been in and attended a lot of weddings!" Kelly admits. "I knew I wanted more of a traditional wedding, and the rest of it just came together." Needless to say, planning is going well for Kelly and David. With only about a month left before they say, "I do", Kelly and David feel the reality of their big day settling in but aren't sweating the small things to keep their planning stress-free.
