Get Versed on Some of the Biggest 2023 Wedding Trends in this Citrus Disco Style Shoot

Wanting to create something trendy yet fresh to start the 2023 wedding season, Erika—the photographer—and Taylor—the makeup artist—collaborated to bring together this fruit-inspired retro style shoot. They really wanted to play off the growing trends of bright colors, citrus elements and disco balls, which are popular at 2023 weddings and perfect as we move into the summer season!
 

After seeing an increased interest from engaged couples for Southwest Michigan destination weddings, Erika and Taylor say choosing the venue was a no-brainer for them. "Bell Mare captures such a chic atmosphere that is quaint and whimsical. It entails a polished atmosphere with the cutest French vibes. It was perfect for the fresh energy we were looking for," Erika and Taylor explain. We couldn't agree more! Some key highlights of this venue are the white walls that easily accommodate any wedding theme and the natural lighting that beautifully fills the space.
 

Though they didn't have anything too specific in mind when it came to the dresses for this shoot, Erika and Taylor share, "We wanted something a little different but still bridal. There has been an influx in reception dresses lately." The team used three short dresses and two long dresses, from The Second Dress, that are just the right amount of flirty and fun. We just love the excess of tulle and overall uniqueness of all the dresses! The team also added elbow-length gloves to one of the bridal looks to bring in that air of elegance! Choosing to implement a trend that never goes out of style, the brides are adorned with classic curls and natural, monochromatic makeup.
 

The entire theme of the shoot revolved around the trendiest décor of this year, including hot pink! Other colors the team incorporated were warm yellows and oranges as well as peachy and light pinks to offset the hot pink's boldness. We love the blend of rustic elements, like the wicker serving mat and wooden candle handler, and the elegant details, like the embroidered table linen and the gold silverware. There are also lots of fun elements around the venue that the team used to capture unique photos. We especially love the antique phone booth and bicycle that played off the vintage theme with the disco balls!
 

No wedding shoot is complete without some flowers and dessert! The team was sure to incorporate all the summery colors into the wood floral arrangements along with different textures to make the tablescape and bouquets feel full. Unique shapes and bright colors also continued with the cookies. We just love the fun personalization of these yummy confections!
 

The use of the ballon arch offered a whimsical touch that matched the playful theme perfectly!
