The Grand Entrance can often be a show stopper. Brides and grooms, along with the help of their bridal parties, put a lot of thought – and sometimes even practice – into how they will enter their reception for the first time as husband and wife. The trend is often to don crazy accessories and go with goofy dance moves to a fun song to get the party started. These entrances are usually a big hit.
When planning your wedding and reception, however, don't forget about your send-off! As the last thing that will happen for you during the event, it may not come to the forefront of your mind in the planning process, but it definitely deserves attention. Now, I'm not talking about releasing doves or anything like that (unless, of course, that's up your alley), but there are a ton of fun, memorable ways to leave your party. Here are some of our favorites!
Confetti
An oldie, but a goodie. Confetti may seem a bit juvenile to some, but it's fun, easy and screams “celebrate!”
Ribbon Wands
Tie a few pieces of ribbon to a wooden dowel and you have yourself a send-off! Choose colors from your overall design palette or go outside the lines a bit with all sorts of wacky hues. Have your guests wave their ribbon wands in the air as you leave the reception to send you on your way!
Sparklers
This is a classic and ever-popular way to get your guests in on the action. Have your guests line your path with sparklers at the end of the night to light the way to your get-away car. They will be a huge hit with any kids that might be in attendance, but they also provide a touch of understated elegance that adults will enjoy as well.
Paper Lanterns
If this one isn't my favorite, it's definitely at the top of the list. Sending off dozens of paper lanterns will illuminate the sky on the night of your wedding and create an atmosphere that's hard to put into words. Light a lantern with your husband and send it off together, while your guests launch their own with a wedding wish for the newlyweds.
Fireworks
Pull out all the stops and end the evening with a firework show! This can be simple with a few sparkler-esque fireworks that line the drive as you leave the party, or you can get serious and amaze your guests with a spectacular that's on-par with the best of any Fourth of July display you can think of. If you're planning an extravagant affair and are looking for that one final “wow factor,” a sky illuminated with a variety of glittering fireworks may be the send-off for you.
Make your day memorable from start to finish!
*Some venues may not allow for sparklers, lanterns or fireworks, so make sure you check beforehand!
