An Industrial Style Shoot at Journeyman Distillery

This style shoot is everything that's trending in the wedding industry right now: Textures. Metallics. Brewery/winery/distillery venues. Industrial styles. And yet, when Amber Allen, owner of Allen & Company Photography created this stylized wedding, there was nothing traditional or ordinary about it. Instead, she put her own take on each trend resulting in a breathtaking shoot at one of the newest wedding venues in southwest Michigan.

With the intent of creating an industrial, rustic feel for this style shoot, Amber found the perfect venue in Journeyman Distillery in Three Oaks, Michigan. Journeyman recently opened its doors to serve private events in addition to its already-popular distillery production and restaurant. Back in the 1800s, Journeyman was a factory that manufactured buggy whips and corsets. Amber says she was drawn to the historical venue because its 7,000+ square feet of space boasts magnificent, original maple floors, metal ceilings, limestone brick walls and rusty pipes. Those elements fit her industrial vision to a "T." Plus, floor-to-ceiling windows offer far-reaching views of the production area where you can see the still, barrels and tanks.

Amber not only coordinated and photographed the style shoot, she also borrowed her wedding dress to the model and did much of the decor including hand painting the copper candlesticks and copper wire which was used for the napkin holders. Although she leaned heavily on textures like woods and metals, she really aimed to add details of copper as much as possible. "I have been on a copper craze lately!" says Amber. She even added copper shimmer to the stationery.
