This Jamaican Destination Wedding Features Gorgeous Beaches and a Sparkling Ocean: The Real Wedding of Ashley and Christopher Gillis

Ashley bumped into Christopher for the first time at the mall. Originally wanting to upgrade her phone, Ashley’s quick trip turned into a much longer endeavor when she started chatting with the cute sales rep! From there, she and Christopher were inseparable. He proposed to her at a family cookout where everyone was ready to celebrate after she said ‘yes!’

While the pair went into the planning process wanting to use local vendors, they found that celebrating at an all-inclusive resort would work better for their budget. “We did fly Joanne of Josephiney Photography to Jamaica to shoot our wedding,” Ashley notes. “We chose Joanne because her pictures are beautiful, professional and exactly what we were looking for.”

Ashley tried on around twenty gowns before returning to the second one she laid eyes on. “We left the shop to ponder the thought of ‘the one’ and we returned one week later to try it on, and I fell more in love with it!” she gushes.

What we love

“Chris and I woke up at 6 a.m. the morning of our wedding to watch the sun rise on the Ocean Gazebo where a few hours later, we would dedicate our lives together,” Ashley says. “It was so special spending this time with him and reflecting on our amazing relationship.”

Advice from the couple

Ashley advises couples to do what makes them happy, above all else. “Your wedding is about you and not about anyone else,” she adds. “It is your special day.”
